The
year 2000 marks the 25th anniversary of Winnipeg Moving
& Storage. A family-run operation, Brad Krulicki
likens his company's silver anniversary success to the
accomplishments of a winning hockey team.
The Winnipeg Moving & Storage team is lead by four
brothers. Team Captain is President Brad Krulicki. Terry
Krulicki is the Vice President of Marketing, Ron Krulicki
is the Vice President of Corporate Sales and Ken Krulicki
is the Vice President Business Development.
"We were all involved in hockey as kids and are
still involved in coaching amateur sports today. I think
this team work approach rubbed off on us in the business
world," explains Brad Krulicki. "Our business
philosophy is very much like a team effort." |

"Everything
we do, we look at as a long term venture," says
Krulicki. "We intend on being in business for a
long time. We also treat our suppliers as well as we
treat our customers, because we need them just as much,"
he continues.
Krulicki notes that success in the moving business comes
from repeat customers. "When we move someone, we
want them to move with us again," he says. "People
like to deal with a family run, Winnipeg based company
that has a stable presence. And we are very involved
in the community."
Winnipeg Moving Storage is a proud corporate sponsor
of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, The Manitoba Moose, The
Winnipeg Goldeyes, The Winnipeg Cyclone Professional
Basketball, and many amateur sports teams. |

"We think this is very important that teams stay
in Manitoba and are supported by the local community,"
states Krulicki. He recalls that Winnipeg Moving Storage
was involved in moving the Winnipeg Jets to Phoenix
and subsequently, moving the Manitoba Moose to Winnipeg.
"It was a really busy time for us, business wise,"
notes Krulicki. "But it was also an emotional time,
personally."

The company’s interest in the community does not end
with sports teams. Winnipeg Moving & Storage also
supports a vast array of local charities, including
the Christmas Cheer Board, Terry Fox Run, Heart and
Stroke Foundation, and the Canadian Cancer Society.
But what supports Winnipeg Moving & Storage? In
a word – family. "We’ve been in the trucking and
transportation business our entire lives," recalls
Krulicki. "In fact, we are the third generation
in this business." The Krulickis’ father Stan worked
in the trucking industry and over a century ago, their
grandfather was involved in the transportation business
– only with a team of horses rather than trucks.
In 1989, Brad Krulicki stepped in as Company President
– launching the new Winnipeg Moving & Storage name.
Seeing a positive future in household moving, he sold
the freight portion of the business. In recent years,
the Krulickis have expanded the business to include
not only the furniture and furniture storage, but also
freight forwarding and long distance transportation,
commercial food storage, subcontracted drivers’ services,
a professional driving training school in Gimli, office
moving and overseas shipping.
|
Winnipeg Moving & Storage has offices in Winnipeg,
Thunder Bay and Gimli. "We have over 100 employees,"
says Krulicki. "We look at hiring our employees
as team players. At the end of the day, if our employees
are treated properly and make a decent living, they
have a lot of self respect and do their jobs well,"
he stresses. "Our employees are the heart and soul
of our company."
|
Krulicki
says his satisfaction comes from making
customers happy. "What I like
the most about the business is making
sure that our customers are satisfied,"
he says.

The philosophy of employee hiring and nurturing has
paid off. "We are a continual growth company,"
notes Krulicki. "We have never had a year when
we have been down in volume."
Part of Allied Vans family, the Winnipeg Moving &
Storage location at 400 Oak Point Highway houses 47,000
square feet of storage space. "Allied has over
200 company associations in Canada and thousand more
in the U.S.," says Krulicki. "We are the largest
family–owned moving company under the Allied umbrella."
Winnipeg Moving & Storage also has transportation
affiliations around the world to help meet a variety
of international, residential and business needs.
However, right here at home is where Krulicki likes
to be. "Winnipeg is the right size city in which
to live and work," he says. "A lot of networking
goes on in this city and province."
Krulicki says his satisfaction comes from making customers
happy. "What I like the most about the business
is making sure that our customers are satisfied,"
he says. "When we receive a letter thanking us
for doing a good job from start to finish, it’s always
nice to here."
The thank you goes both ways. "We always send our
customers a thank you card for doing business with us,"
comments Krulicki. Indeed, personalized service is one
of the reasons that Winnipeg Moving & Storage has
been a success for a quarter century. And if the Krulicki
brothers have it their way, the company will be on the
move for another 25 years. |
